5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
The issue i am having is with HWY driving. As soon as I get up to speeds of 70 +mph. I get a wobble/rocking effect, its not constant, but at every shift in the pavement or as it seems as the wind blows..LOL. It drives me crazy. I took it into the Dealership and they said it was normal. I may go back to test drive another camry.
I have driven my parents 09' camry and did not have the same issues. Does any one else have this issue. Oh the dealership did recomened the TRD suspension springs at 600.00 to install. Any sugestions out there. I have had for about 4 mo's and just went on my first road trip and was hoping for a much better ride. Thank you all for your feedback!! Other wise I love my new ride.
camry LE 2.5 AT with5000 miles. I don't have the wobling issue - but the steering wheel is soft/light for me, especially after I took it to the dealer for an alignment
camry suspension is soft, a bit boat like. when I had tire pressure hight, it was sensitive to the road iregularities... try different tire pressure see if that helps.
Mike I have the same problem. It really feels as if the car sucks in windy weather. When im on 75 driving at 80pmh you can really feel the wind move the car. Not sure if its jus the car or a problem with the steering.
I bought my first Toyota, a Camry 2011, last week and I really regret it! The car suspension has two major problem. First, it is too stiff and you feel all bumps of the road. Second the suspension on wheels do not seem to be very independent. When a wheel gos inside a small dip, the whole car moves up and down, first the front of the car and then the back of the car..
I have been driving an Audi A4 for the last 4 years, commuting a 16 miles road, back and forth, for the past 4 years and kind of know every bump of the road! With my Audi, I could easily drive 70mils, with Camry at 50miles miles the car shakes and in case one wheel goes to a dip, the whole car moves up and down.
Could someone please guide my what is going on? is this normal with Camry?
i can and have driven up to 85 mph, and its smooth as silk........(LE, 4cyl), and form another thread, about the rear dash vibrating.......?>?> never any problems here...........
and transmission problems........gimme a break here too.
i (and you) must have the only "perfect" camry's out there........
i think many of these guys are just plain disappointed that thier cars are NOT like what they read about from the many stories they hear.
I have a v6 and suffer none of the problems described here. The car will go faster than I care to drive, but even with side winds blowing I have never experienced any issues until the winds were blowing past 30 knots and my ground speed exceeded 75 mph. I suspect the weight of that A4 is closer to that of the Camry v6 than the i4 so perhaps that is part of your problem, but golly gee, you just bought the car and hate it? Nobody ever offered you a test drive? Sounds like you should trade it in on a
Buick. Heavy, Boat-Like. Yep. But even with the Buick, avoid a test drive at all cost. You might not like it.

"People who think they know it all are particularly irritating to those of us who do."
When you say Audi to me, I am definitely not thinking about a Camry. I think BMW and Mercedes. Those are comparable cars. Altima and Accord are comparable to the Camry. That's why you probably paid $20K more for the Audi ;-)
I personally like the way my SE rides/drives. I understand there is a sport suspension in it and that sometimes it gets bumpy on the interstates here in VAB when I am going 70+. To think that you can drive a car at 70, hit a pot hole, and the car not bounce is absurd.
I think a lot of what people experience is called "value attribution." You just got out of an Audi and you think that the Camry is just another cheap Asian car. It can't possible be as good as your German engineered driving machine. The value that you place on the Camry will never make it be as good as your previous car.
To the OP,
If you think there is a problem with the way your car handles, then test drive a different car @ the dealership and see if it is the same way.

as long as he compares model to model, meaning SE to SE, or LE to LE.....
he said, the suspension is too stiff, so he's got to have the SE model.......

many times people may test drive a luxury (type) to a sport type and get the wrong results.
