Tranny fluid change (cooler return line)

2002 Camry I4. I am aware that there is a drain plug that get about 3 quarts out.

I also wanted to get a few quarts out by disconnecting the return line (that goes from the radiator into the tranny). I can see these lines, but dunno which one is the return (i.e. coming out of the radiator into the tranny).

Also, I have 90K miles - should the filter be replaced. (If yes, will the dealer drain & fill also change the filter?)

first, you ain't gonna get a 'few quarts" out of the return line. you'd be lucky to get all of about 1 to 2 pints, if even that.

the bottom line should be the return line.

and yes, the dealer should replace the filter/gasket, but to be on the 'safe side" when you go there, ask.
