04 camry doors wont unlock.

Okay spent about 4 hours today trying to figure it out. Im pretty much stumped. door will not unlock with the key inserted into the drivers door key hole. only drivers door locks and unlock. all other doors lock if i manually move them to unlock and hit the lock button. i tried swapping both master switch and passenger side switch with another vehicle still nothing. im able to appy power and ground to the actuator itself and get it to unlock and lock by reversing the polarity. so the actuators test out good. so its not the actuators, or the switches those are all ruled out. vehicle does have an aftermarket alarm and t-taps was used to spliced into the vehicle wiring. remove entire alarm system. still didnt work. however playing around a bit with the switch i was able to get the doors to unlock. but than it seems like it got overheated and stop working? maybe a short somewhere. any suggestion? pretty confused that if i insert the key into the drivers door no other doors would unlock also.. any master techs in here that can give me any ideas? thanks.

Did anybody do any work on the door lately? Even if not with the aftermarket alarm install if they did a sloppy job on the wiring something might have come loose. I'd probably double check the wiring that runs under the sill plate to make sure everything that runs from the door to the alarm or whatever are in good shape and that nothing's come loose-even if everything in the door itself is hooked up OK the wiring under there might be borked.

Had some painful personal experience with something similar-a sloppy shop worked on my car and did a crazy sloppy job rewiring the door then when I tried to get them to fix it they claimed that they had already checked and that nothing was wrong when in fact they hadn't even tried to fix it. Luckily the d-bag owner's wife was pretty nice and actually someone to take the car apart to check the wiring, and that's when I saw the joke of a wiring job they had done (think wires held together by just twisting the bare wires). If anybody's done work on the door or alarm before they might have rewired it poorly so I'd probably trace the wiring all the way out from the door to make sure everything's intact.

It sounds like it's something painfully simple but the hard part is basically tracing out all the wiring from the door. Also the T-taps sound a little suspect, might honestly be worth it to do some proper soldering or something. Something or another might not be working right with the install.

nope wiring is okay. t-taps are one of the best and safe way to splice into a circuit. Im shooting for a bad body ecu.

yes body ecu did fix the problem. its located behind the under dash fuse box. you cant get the ecu seperate dealer will get you the whole junction box. We are starting to see more and more of theses at our dealer along with headgasket failing because of the stripped cylinder headbolts.
