Gen 6.5 rear dash rattle/vibrations

Hey guys, does anyone own a gen 6 or 6.5 camry se that has the huge rear plastic dash? i currently have a 2011 se with the jbl system and every single time i bump some music at like volume 26-27 my rear dash rattles like crazy from the dash and my bass is at 0/5. its driving me crazy, has any of you guys fixed the problem or have the same issue? thanks

i've got same issue, i got a 2010 se jbl too
i plan to take apart the back plastic and stick things under it, if u find out how to do it let me know

The correct way would be to install some sound deadening to add weight so it wont rattle as much. If your looking to do it on the cheap, I read on this forum where someone cut up some sponges and wedged those in strategic places to stop the rattling. I have an 08 Camry and went the sound deadening route. Hope this helps

well thx, but im trying to take the thing apart and put it under not actually make the dyna mat or the thing visible, u got anyways?

you have to take out the whole rear deck and apply sound deadening. I have a 09 camry LE and that was the most annoying noise after i installed my system. So i apply sound deadening in the rear deck now most of the rattling is gone, there is still a little bit there but not as worst as before. It might also be harder to take out the rear deck because the SE models seat don't fold down. i believe you have to remove the seats.

yea, i was able to pop off the whole rear dash without having to remove the seats. just pop off the rear pillar covers and lift the tray straight up, but only works when you first remove the rear headrests. i was able to stick a few thick pads in certain places, but i havent exactly found the sweet spot to eliminate the vibration, and i dont trust taking it to toyota for them to mess with and i doubt they will do much to fix the problem. ill take pics tomorrow when i take the rear dash out again.

ok, i pop open the back dash again today, and pretty much took some old micro fiber clothes folded them so thier nice and thick and shoved them under the dash in random places to see what would work. so far no luck and the vibration is still there, not really sure what else i can do. the noise is coming from around the 3rd brake light and from bass it hits the glass is one of the reasons, and another area is from the rear of the deck where it meets the glass. we'll heres some pics if it helps and any suggestion would be great. i got the jbl upgraded system for a reason, to have a good sound and mid bass, but this vibration just kills it.

any suggestions would be great. sorry pics isnt really in order but you get the idea.

Maybe, just maybe, if people didn't play their stereos loud enough to be heard three blocks away, they wouldn't have vibration problems.

While I appreciate this point of view, I actually have this vibration problem even when I don't have my stereo on and even before I installed an aftermarket sound system. At this point, this vibration problem happens constantly when I am on a bumpy or cobblestone road.

As a side-note, my system is not earth-shattering by any means. It has a 10-inch subwoofer that is purely there to reproduce an accurate sound stage and even range of frequencies... Not to be a bass-thumping, house destroyer.

i understand your view, but the rear dash should not vibrate at all and my music with the jbl system i have the volume at 26-30 with the bass at 0, i dont think thats blaring loud. the new plastic rear dash is a POS, and after fiddling with it for an hour or so, i came to the conclusion that its pretty much impossible to fix the rattling issue, only eliminate a portion of it and only way to get rid of some of the rattling is to stuff something inbetween the rear dash and the metal frame under neath. in my situation the rattling/vibration came from like 2-3 different spots in the rear dash, and i just stuffed some old crappy folded microfibers in there and fixed it a little, but theres not really much more i can do.

If the rattling is not solved by additional insulation, has anyone tried to place some thin black felt tape or similar along the window between the rear deck and the glass?

thats one of the problems, the edge of the 3rd brake light taps the glass. i wedge a microfiber cloth between them and seemed to eliminate the noise, now i just dont know what i should put in between there that would look good and not tacky.
