5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have owned this 2007 Camry XLE for over four years now. One thing has bothers me every day. I set the temperature to 68F. During the day when I started the car, it always set the air circulation to inside when outside temperature is over 68F. But its the day, the sun has heated the car that inside temperature is higher than outside. Therefore I have to manually change the air circulation to outside every time I started the car. I think this is very stupid from Toyota.

Well Toyota hasn't changed it for to 2011 year, either. But on mine I leave it alone, to let it get the inside as cool as fast as it can. The recirculated air is usually cooler from the inside (as the inside cools down) than the outside air is. Toyota had to pick some crossover point and I bet if you raise the temperature setting to 70 degrees it will start in the fresh air mode till the outside temperature is above 70 degrees. On mine the switch over to fresh air mode is at about 6 miles when its 90 degrees plus outside with the setting on 68 degrees, also.
If you don't want the recirculate mode at all, cough up the money and have the dealer set it to your preference.

I do not want to disable the recirculate mode. There are situations recirculating is preferred. What I do not like is why Toyota decide what the mode is better for me instead of the mode I set before.

The recirculate function isn't disabled, just the auto recirculate mode at start-up.

Try different defrost outlet conditions....
On mine, any outlet choice that involves 'windshield' then defaults to outside air intake first. (I think they thought outside air would always be lower humdity? Backwards to me...)
