2010 Camry LE Instrument Cluster Issue

Hello All,

I have a 2010 Camry LE and had a friend install a new stereo system for me over the weekend. Unfortunately during the install, a screwdriver went through my instrument cluster, cracked the plastic and damaged the instrument panel. About 2/3 of the things light up in the panel.

Since this will obviously not be warrantied by Toyota, I was wondering if I can purchase another cluster on ebay or at a junkyard and replace it. I don't want to go to the dealership and pay retail for a new cluster.

My concern is will I still have to go to the dealership to have them reprogram my odometer? My car is only 2 months old and has less than 2k miles on it. I do not want to get a used one from ebay or from a junkyard and risk the odometer stating something like 30k miles if the odometer readings are set in the panel itself.

Does anyone know if my car will display my original mileage on a used cluster?

If you can find it on eBay, it'll work. I don't think that you will have to go to the dealer to reprogram anything. I had a 08' tundra which I had done this with and it was simply plug and play, no reprogramming anything. The only downfall would be the cluster you buy would show the mileage from which car it was taken off of. It will not show your cars current mileage. If your car has 2000 miles and the car the cluster was taken off of had 25000 miles, it will register 25000 miles when you plug it back in. The only way around that would be to go to the dealer and purchase a new cluster, which is very pricey. Hope I helped.

your friend must have been wreckless?? how did installing a stereo system end up with a screw driver through the instrument cluster? he shouldn't even have been touching the instrument cluster...but yes try ebay.

If you install one from the junkyard yourself and are friendly with the dealership they can reprogram the cluster showing the mileage on your vehicle. (Probably with a small fee)

Just remember that the cluster is specific to the body style and engine size. 4 cylindr engine has a different cluster than the V6.
