Gen6 Gen 6 clutch upgrade question

Hey all

Ive been thinking about putting a new clutch in my 09 camry as well as a lightweight flywheel and have been unsuccessful at locating clutch/flywheel information on this website. I called fidanza and they confirmed that how the clutch bolts to the camry and scion tc flywheel is identical but they could not confirm whether or not the clutches are the same. Anyone having any information to share on this subject would be appreciated. Thanks

Since there are so few manuals sold in NA it just isn't economical for manufacturers to design, manufacture, market, and stock these sorts of items. Find a good speed shop in your area and hand them a new flywheel and let them play with it and see how much material they can remove without compromising the component. As for pressure plates, the same answer applies. Very unlikely you can find a stock competitive plate outside of TRD.

If you are really really lucky you might find a good aftermarket clutch. I myself will be wanting one soon. But like gdanaher said, the manuals are so rare no one makes aftermarket clutches. You might end up having to get another stock one.

Given that manuals are so rare I see no reason why toyota would bother designing a unique clutch and flywheel for the 2az that differs from the scion tc 2az. I am just trying to figure out if they are for sure before I waste any money and time.

I found a few threads that may have some information to offer on this subject but I still require more looking. Dont know about the second link being that accurate. Maybe the new model outline for the gen 6 camry will shed some light on any possible engine changes.

This thread is about an 05 camry with a 2az in it regarding putting a scion tc engine into a camry.

2AZFE - 2.4L 4cly - Swap/Replace - Camry vs Scion Engine Differences

This thread is about the possible difference in the camry and scion tc bottom end. Dont know how accurate this thread is.
