Just curious as to my fellow Canadian's experiences with getting body kits in Canada and how they hold up over our winters with a slight suspension lowering.
I'm buying a used '07 Camry LE and am aiming to get a kit that resembles an SE and then dropping it slightly. Before I spend ridiculous money I'd just like to get some feedback as to what it's like driving in the snow on a setup such as this and possibly some suggestions as to credible sellers of kits and what to look for/avoid when buying a kit.
Oh, and yes, I have utilized the 'search' option before posting this and already have a list of possible locations of where to buy the kits.

I didn't know people from Canada say Howdy? I thought only people from Texas say Howdy. Just curious. I think you should be worried about salt than snow. You have to drive slow with a lowered car.

Would a "how's it goin' eh?" been more appropriate? lol

"What's up," would make you look cooler. Lol. But yeah, if you're in a place where there's heavy snow or ice, I wouldn't recommend lowering the car or you can have a second hand car like a beater to drive in the winter.
you'll be fine. if you slam it you can use it as a snowplow and make money!
Can you PM me a list of places you're thinking of getting Body kits...are they local to you?? i'm in Bowmanville, is why i ask!
You'll probably get more damage on the lip driving in the summer, on speed bumps etc, atleast snow is soft
I've only bookmarked online stores. I haven't searched locally at this point. If you've got any suggestions I'm all ears.
I'm also not planning on lowering it TOO much. The small bit of research that I've done is pointing me towards new springs as opposed to coilovers just due to cost as well as looks. I'm 28 and I'm going for "old man chic"
Oh, and how does one usually determine how much to drop a ride? Just a preference I take it? How can you be sure you'll like how it looks? Just a gamble?
I'm dropped 2" and i think it is perfect, for our weather conditions and daily driving. But it is totally up to you. What you want it to look like, what size rims you may plan to get in the future etc.
My spring broke (getting it replaced free, warranty)...and i thought about coils, but just not practical for daily use.
As for body kits and shops around here, not much out there, no one mods a Camry enough for shops to get kits for us. If you do order online keep in mind shipping is going to very pricey (250+ probably)..and add customs and duty tax on top of it. it sucks.
I'm 29, so i get it I actually purchased a front lip, but not installing til spring, going to spend the winter painting it and getting it ready.

Ya 2" is actually what I had in mind. I was planning on getting 17's and have been cruising the forum pics for a while just trying to find LE's with the same kinda setup (aftermarket body kit & 17's).
I've seen a couple users rides on here that look exactly what I'm going for but most of them are SE's which is why I'm aiming for a kit that resembles that since it's not flashy but still classy. I'm assuming you have a kit or at least experience in shipping them?
Thanks for the meet info too. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for the next one.
I've looked into shipping a kit here, and the best quote i got for shipping was 250, minus the customs tax. Luckly now i have family in Michigan so when i know i'm going down, i have any car related things shipped to them and i bring them back with me.
The next meet is in the East End i on the 25th. I'll make the tread for it now. I won't be attending this one though. But i am doing the Fall Tour.
If you can find a set of 2010 SE 17's, they'd look great. I am looking for set myself for my dads XLE. Do not go to the dealer though, they want 600 bucks PER rim no tires..

This place is in Quebec and has 3 body kit options by the looks of it. Also says that it's an extra $50 per bumper in customs. The choices are "B-2", "GT Concept", and "RK Sport". I have no idea which one is better. lol
The RK Sport site lists the kit at $800 but after shipping and customs to Canada, the $1200 price tag for the one in Quebec starts looking around the same doesn't it?
Also, it may seem like a stupid question but the LE comes with a single exhaust and the kit has cut outs for dual exhaust. Is there a compatibility issue? The front valance also appears to have cutouts for fog lights so can I just buy some new fog lights and have those installed without any issues?
They'll fit. Just will have the cut out for dual exhaust. you can always get a custom dual exhaust put on after. or get a "dummy" muffler and put it up there so it looks dual.
Correct on the fogs you can get aftermarket fogs and wire them up.
I suppose you're right with the customs and shipping. There is a vendor on here Extreme Dimensions, PM them and ask what kind of deal they can give you on the RK kit. They maybe able to work something out for you.
you guys aren't that far out..I creep on the forums, and never make it out to the meets due to work.
I went spring and body kit shopping too. I went by brock rd & bayly (pickering) to pickering tire n mag. They referred me to a spring shop (pickering springs? haven't been there in a while) across the street. That shop sells springs and I spoke to one of the guys there who happened to have a link for kits. I'd go there if you have time, the place is on the corner of brock and bayly.
punk: just a question for you. Given our weather conditions, and of course your experience. I picked up a 07 SE..im picking up 18s in a little while, and I want to drop the car another 1 - 1.5 inch but im not sure how it'll hold up during winter. I read from your comments, you seem to have no prob. but i know how high the LE w/ stock springs is and u did another 2" drop... any thoughts??
Mine is an SE V6 and dropped 2". I'm on 19's in the summer and i was on 16 snow tires, but i'm up sizing to 17's this winter, because i got them free and they're like new lol.
But i drove up north every weekend (Hailburton, Bancroft) to snowmobile, and i've never had a problem with snow and being lowered.
Since the Gen 6 SE has a lip kit, it may be a bit lower, but i don't see it being a problem, more so if you live in the City where the snow is usually always cleared off the streets. The good thing for me, i just had my car painted in May and replaced the front bumper, so i kept the old one and i am going to swap to the old one for the winter, so next year when i have my lip kit put on, i won't really have issues.
2" drop isn't that aggressive, you'll still have 5-6" of ground clearance in the front, just take it easy over speed bumps and driveways with raised curbs etc. Since lowering the only thing i have hit was my exhaust pipe lol
