5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I'm hoping someone can help me, my daughter has a 2002 Camry LE and it is missing the insert for her cup holder for the front seats. She's tried to find it online and hasn't had any luck as we aren't really sure what we're specifically looking for. Do any of you happen to know the part number? Know someone that sells it? Or can help us in any way. We've kind of rigged something but it's not very effective and without it no cups can stay in the holder. Until I bought my 2011 SE we didn't even know the cup holder was missing a part... we just thought Toyota designed a pretty crappy setup. Haha
Thanks... I'd have to look at her car to see if that was something we could replace, but the thing we're looking for is the little piece that goes in the middle, or in the holders, somehow to actually make two cups fit. In my '11 it's just a piece that slides out and in and has little spring tabs attached. I know I'm not explaining it well, which might be why we can't find it.
Are you talking about the flup up piece? the one for larer or smaller cups that goes by the center armrest just behind the shifter?
I have an '04 Camry, and I think that is what you are looking for. I can check in the morning and see if it is available.

I'm not sure what you mean about the flip up piece but yes it's behind the shifter. I'm posting pictures of the piece from my car, both in the cupholders and out. It might make more sense. I apologize for the quality. I tried to take a picture in my daughter's car but her light is too dim and I was using my iPhone
Well, the set up from an '11 Camry and '02 are completely different. The '02 is designed to accomodate small and large cups. It has a flip up piece inside to hold small cups, or folds down if you have larger cups. In reality, are hardly use mine at all.

The problem is those Ohio State coasters you got )
^ That is what the 02 cup holders should look like. The part with the flaps can be flipped up or down. To be perfectly honest they aren't a great design, smaller cups aren't supported well and move around easily.
Out this way the real poverty pack models look like this.

does it look like this in there?
Yes, It looks very similar to that picture minus the black pieces sticking out and the triangular piece separating the two compartments... so that must be what we're missing to make the cups fit. Is this something we can even replace?
I'm attaching pictures of her cup holders and our rigging to make it so we can use two cups without them flipping out of the holders. I apologize in advance for how dirty her car is. ;-)
My flap won't stay in place any more after a too-large cup was jammed in the holder. From what I can tell, the whole cupholder assembly must be replaced to get the flap, and it's over $100 for the assembly. I'd point you to the assembly, but Colonial Toyota took down its website that had a browsable parts fiche and I haven't found another one yet.
Well thanks you guys! I appreciate everyone's help greatly. I guess she's stuck with our $8 rig from Target ;-) She's been using it for almost 2 years, but we thought maybe something was missing after we saw the set up in my car.
