USA 2011 Camry SE Q&A's update

I just recently bought a 2011 Camry SE. Loved the car for the first three weeks until I was involved in a hit and run! A deer! Caused $7000 worth of damage. So as of right now it is at Palatine Toyota Collision center. Thank God for them because I called Toyota and they said it any aftermarket parts were added it would void my warranty. 3 weeks in the shop and this Friday Ill get her back.

1,043 mileage

When I bought her....

The hit and run by the deer...

My real question is 2010 vs. 2011 Camry... What is the difference between the two? There really is not much info on the differences. I am soo new to Toyota in general I'm lost in differences I have been trying to read as much info and yet to really see much on 2011's

I know that the motor is a 2.5 vs 2.4. I want to put a aftermarket DVD touch screen stereo but I feel if I do buy one the wiring might be different.

Is there anything important I should know as far as the difference between to two? If not I guess ill buy parts as if it is a 2010.

Thanks in advance

There is no difference between the 2010 & 2011.

well that good to hear. I was just concerned about buying smoked LED taillights and a different head unit like in the forum 2007 ebay head unit and having it not connect properly.

Wait wait!! 2007-2009 (Gen 6) are different than 2010-2011 (Gen 6.5).

The smoked LED tails and head units are only for the Gen 6 models (2007-2009).

Lol, good catch GTR. Might have been a costly error for the OP

FYI, Fly Audio is a reputable brand. They sponsor Club Lexus and its pretty much OEM nav/Video/what have you unit. You should try to check one out. I've played with the Camry and ISx50 variants and can say its worth the price.

Also another thing to note, HIDs can be put in our Camry's. You cover the squirrel spotters the same way as a Gen6. Other than that, not much difference that I could figure out.

acutally, i dont believe you can cover the gen 6.5 squirrel spotters like you can on the gen 6's. the flap in the gen 6.5 is twice as long and as far as i know at the moment theres real no way of covering them. please correct me if im wrong.

My Camry is a 2010. From what I can tell, I am the only person to do this so far since other people think otherwise for some reason jkjk haha. Just trying to help people out

Here is a shitty picture that I've been meaning to redo at a proper distance to show everyone that its possible but haven't gotten to doing so yet. The glare you see is from the chrome in our headlights . As you can see, no giant box like normal

EDIT: I forgot to mention that to cover them, its the same process as the Gen6. Just go slow and steady since it takes a bit of time since the flap is indeed longer in Gen6.5s

Well funny story... after I hit the deer pulled over. in a matter of minutes a cop pulls up behind the deer, put the spotlight on the deer. Deer looked dead...cop walked over to me and then out of nowhere the deer started kicking cop ran towards it saying hes gonna put it out. Well the deer got up and took off. cop got in his car and chased the deer. Hence hit and run! lol Damn deer got away.

oh and Toyota collsision charged $9,238 got the car back last night. It looked like Sh*t this morning when i went out to take an actual good look. Ripples or dimples in the paint, engine was filthy, paint job was flawed headlamps were foggy. Fortunately I talked to the manager and of course he apologized and said they would take care of it. For a first time Toyota owner this is a hassel. lol but that's life.

Man, that just sucks! I am constantly afraid of hitting deer around where I live. Of course I live in the outskirts of the city in the burbs, on the other side of me is "the country" and the damn deer come into my neighborhood and eat my flowers as they walk down our street. I know my luck will run out some day... I just hope and pray it's not anytime soon. I'd hate to see my Camry mangled by the annoying beasts!

I hope Toyota collision makes it all right by your car... 3 weeks old and not perfect just stinks. :-(

Finally got around to de-badging and tinting my taillights. Heres a few pics.

This was all done with spray tint.

I want to do the toyota emblems on the outside front and back black, but I don't know what kind of sticky stuff to use to put it back on. Any Ideas??

What do you think with the Camry emblem here vs puting a TRD emblem under the shifter like GT-R's? yes or NO Trying to decide whether to keep it there
