How to remove overhead console 5th generation Camry

Greetings!
I’m a new member and this is my first post so please feel free to make suggestions!

The opening damper on my ’05 Camry LE sunglass holder broke some time ago. I’ve scoured the Internet for directions on how to get the overhead console out to attempt to repair the damper. Finding no help, I decided to take a chance and find out for myself how it comes apart! So, here are my suggestions.

There are NO screws holding he console in place. The front (windshield side) of the console is held in by two pressure clips that clip into the metal bracket attached to the roof. The rear of the console is held in by a clever velcro-style “gripper.”

There is NO need to remove the light lenses (although I did looking for screws).

To remove the console, grab the window side of the console by pushing up on the headliner and just...pull! (Hard.) The rear disconnects much easier.

Unfortunately, I found the small gear attaching the eyeglass holder to the damper was lost in the bowels of the headliner. Also, one clip holding the apparatus to the eyeglass holder was broken. In my case the piece was not repairable.
