Gen5 Mismatched Tire Speed Ratings?

I have mismatched speed ratings on my Camry. I'm considering getting 3 Uniroyal TigerPaws, which would matchup the only good tire I have on the car. However the SE calls for a V-Rated Tire. I was wondering whether people felt the V rating was necessary for the Camry SE? A V rating is pretty high, 150mph. Would it really affect the handling that much? Do you think I could get by with a T rating?

2002 Camry SE - 215/60R16 - 94V

Left Front: Yokohama AS430 - 94H

Right Front: Yokohama AS430 - 94H

Left Rear: Uniroyal TigerPaw AWP 2 - 94T

Right Rear: Yokohama AVID H4S - 94H

H rated tire much safer than T rated tires. I would not go below H rated just to have the nylon cap plies since they are only required on H and higher rated tires.

The V rating has more involved than just the speed rating. There are other considerations such as sidewall stiffness. Deviating from the spec can drastically change the handling and feel of the vehicle even if you don't go 150 MPH.

Kumho Ecsta

I understand the issues about the Sidewall. I hate to admit this..... but the shop where I work puts on tires that are below the speed rating of what cars call for all the time. Customers don't notice any difference!

That is a big difference in speed ratings though. I was considering getting Kumho Ecsta LX Platinums. They are V-Rated and a pretty good tire from what I hear.

Well, I still wouldn't go below H rated because of the nylon cap required on H rated tires. It makes the tire much safer.
