Question Can '04 Camry 4cyl Rotors be Resurfaced?

My '04 Camry brakes are pulsating. In my experience this is usually caused by rotor problems. In the past I would get rotors resurfaced. I read somewhere that today's rotors cannot be resurfaced.

Can the rotors on my car be resurfaced?

Today's rotors have very little excess metal that they often reach minimum thickness first. However, if yours are still above the minimum thickness then yes then can be resurfaced. Provided that they can last the current set of pads and still be above the minimum.

Toyota is having a lot of problems with Gen5+ rotors, so what you're experiencing is not unusual. Toyota also had replaced some brake pads. Maybe they were substandard as well. When you remove the pads, let us know what codes are printed on the back.

If you need to change rotors/pads, I'd get Raybestos Advanced Technology rotors with Akebono ProAct ceramic pads. At this time, I don't see the excellent Brembo rotors available, but they should be in the years ahead.

My parts house says they have Brembo rotors. When you say "the excellent Brembo rotors" are you saying they have different grades, or is it you just don't see Brembo rotors? If there are different grades, which ones are you talking about?

Can anyone else vouch for these pads and rotors he recommended? I'm going to order some for mine...

Well, anyway... I ordered those pads and rotors. Rotors from rockauto, pads on ebay. The pads were cheapest there.

I only need the rears done right now, 2mm left on pads according to previous owner's Toyota inspection a week ago.

Put the akebono pads and raybestos rotors on my rear brakes tonight. Did a little test drive, seems ok. Wasn't much of a problem other than the pads were wearing out though, haha.
