Gen5 camry moonroof issues

i own an 06 camry se with a factory moonroof

it slides open fine but when i slide it closed it doesnt tilt the back of the glass up to make it level with the roof; also when i use the tilt function it doesnt pop up as much as it used to

any suggestions? or shud i take it to the dreaded dealer

You might need to "normalize" it.....try this first Moonroof closing problem when tilted open.

same thing happened to me and my cars brand new

and i took it to toyota and they said they had to configure it again cause sometimes it forgets its correct spot of being closed

and they told me to bring it on my appointment day cause it took a long time


then one day it just fixed itself idk how, but it just started working correctly so idk just play with it a little

its fixed

i ended up trying to "normalize" it but didnt work the way its supposed to but i tinkered with it and it vented up the way its supposed to and is now working normally

now my moonroof doesnt slide open all the way .... its only about 2 inches and i can live with it but still!!!...... i tried "normalizing" it again and it freezes for a bit (meaning it doesnt do anything when i push either button)

Weirdest thing, just found this thread after a quick search...


I've left my sunroof tilted open several times when its rained and a handful of those times the sunroof will act-up afterwards--- it'll open and close but the auto function won't work so i gotta hold the button down; the problem is its tricky to get it to fully close without trying to tilt open or slide back..

Here's the strange part-- the damn thing has fixed itself every single time, and the auto function will start working as it should, probably just dries out or hears me yelling profanities

Seems to be like the low idle sometimes-- it just fixes itself

lol not to thread jack but my friend did something like that with his '00 Accord V6 (boooo accord lol)..........he left it all the way open and it poured....and I mean POURED for like an hour then it stopped. I think he got it to close but it doesnt open anymore I dont think
