USA 2011 Camry LE steering wheel plastic rubbing noise

I already brought it up in my other thread, but would like to get some fresh input on this problem I have on my 2011 Camry LE 2.5L I-4. There is a grinding/rubbing noise from the steering wheel column when turning in parking lots and at slow speeds. I took the car twice to the dealership in Houston, but on both ocassions, they dismissed it as "harmless plastic rubbing noise" coming from the plastic surrounding the steering wheel. My salesman insisted that it is common on every car he has been on test drives with customers. The grinding is not consistent, (happens 70 % of the time, mostly pulling out of parking lot when vehicle not in motion or driving slow.) Is it normal? Thanks.

It shouldn't be considered normal by any means. That would suggest that the engineers who designed it meant for it to rub, and I don't think that is what they had in mind. Get some spray silicone at the parts store and spritz it around the plastic area and see if helps. Surely can't hurt.

Just re-align the plastic covers.

I agree, I did it while I was sittin in the car at work, used 2 tie straps, didn't fully tighten them but just enoug to keep them closer to the driveshaft and away from the plastic, problem solved
