Do you have anything sitting on the seat, like a sack of groceries??

No, this would not bring on the air bag warning light on dash any how
Also noticed seat belt not fastened light dose not go off when passenger seat belt fastened and someone sitting on seat
  • Have disconected the battry twice for 30 mins light still on
  • while battry disconected unpluged all under seat conectors then pluged them back in
  • Scan tool as suspected will not read air bag fault codes

The air bag system more than likely needs a separate tool to read the code. First, take a look under your passenger seat and up front to make sure everything looks like it's plugged in. If it is, best guess is that a sensor or module went bad somewhere. Take it to the dealership and have it scanned (if they try to charge you, go to an NTB or something like that...they'll probably do it free) and see what's up. When the module went out on my Cobalt, I was able to replace that and the sensor in about an hour. Not a terrible job, but the part is kind of pricey.

Yea I am thinking control mo-dual apparently under passenger seat can get a used one from the breakers for $85 so may be worth a try just hoping it is plug and go and dose not need programing, cheaper than a trip to the dealer

It should be. Again, I'm basing this off my experience with the Cobalt, so I'm not promising anything.

That said, it's just like any other sensor. You'll probably have to take apart the bottom of the seat to get to the sensor (it's gonna be most of the size of the seat), but as long as you remember how you got it apart, everything goes right back together. Plug the new one in and you should be in good shape...no reflash of the system or anything.

My only hint...for the love of God disconnect the battery for at least an hour before you start playing with it. Otherwise you may get launched through the rear windshield.
