5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I went from a ford pickup with mean exhaust and now with my new camry which I love, there's really no sound to it. Even though it'd a 4-door and not a typical 2-door sports car, it surprises people as everyone knows - especially with the V6.
Since my car packs the V6, 268HP punch I need an exhaust system I think. I spoke to a guy who does exhaust systems in my city and he said that he never sees the Gen6 Camry come in. That'll change people. So off my mind I know there's Borla, Magnaflow and the Aeroturbine models...which is best? Should I get the full system with the catback?
Also, I don't want the car sounding like a rice-rocket. It has to be clean with a beautiful roar just like a high end luxury sportscar such as the Ferrari. I know it'll never be or sound like a Ferrari but I don't want something typically heard on the older Civics, it has to sound....sexy!

GET AT ME TOYOTA NATION!!!
someone posted a you-tube video of his car with an exhaust system, you have to look for it. when i heard it though, it sounded so typical of a fart can exhaust, meaning no, "beautiful roar"......money wasted. and any HP gains would be negligible. toyota makes "performance mufflers" that bolt right on, but i never heard any of those sounds either, and the mufflers are like $700 each i think......?????

A V6 is never going to sound as good as a big V8 a Toyota V10 or a Ferrari V12.
But no fear, delete your resonator and add some decent exhausts and it should sound like a um... better V6.
delete res and get the mufflers of ur choise. don't go trd. it sounds nice but for that much u can do a custom setup that u'll like better. personally i have dual injen ses225tt with res delete. everyone loves how it sounds. listen to some exhausts on the 350z and g35 and then based on that u can create ur own setup. thats what i did.
The only reason I would get the TRD exhaust would be to keep from getting tickets because it's a OEM 50 state street legal exhaust. In VA they will actually pull people over for there exhausts so if you can't prove that it's an OEM part you have to take it off and/or pay a fine while still being required to show up in court.
Do a full Magnaflow catback and delete the resonators and upgrade the piping to 2.5". It'll sound mean and not ricey. You did good by getting the V6 too. the I4 is easy to make it sound civic-y
Im stuck on what mufflers i want to get. Mine is i4 though.
What i been looking at are vibrant mufflers (chrome, oval shaped), magnaflow universal oval mufflers and apexi ws2. Maybe you could look into them aswell? Im after a deep tone even though mine is i4

Borrowed this from untitlejk , this is his I4 with a OBX SP2 muffler. Sounds awesome to me . Check ebay for muffler, priced around $50+shipping. I don't know if he cut off the res but I'd say so. http://s620.photobucket.com/albums/t...t=100_3899.flv

Skip the TRD exhaust for the v6. While it does delete the resonator, not much sound from it. Custom set up will give you the sound you're looking for
Not sure what you mean by "not much sound". It goes from not hearing your engine ever at all to drooooooooooooooooooone 24/7. It isn't GT-R loud though, which I hear coming from a mile away. That's the only other V6 exhaust that I've ever heard that really sounds incredible and aggressive.
