Could someone with an 10-11 with factory Bluetooth answer a question.
I have a 2009 non bluetooth radio which I am planning to swap for a 2011 Bluetooth ready radio. As my car does not have the steering wheel controls, are you able to fully operate the phone and functions from the deck alone? i.e. answer/hangup/etc?
I have a source for the microphone and wiring for $100 and I'm hoping it will leave me with a fully functioning factory bluetooth setup.
You can do this from the screen with a unit like or similar to this. This will also help with your other thread.
I had that unit and the bluetooth was really pretty bad. Phone mic was horrible and A2DP wasn't that clear. So I sold it at a loss.
So factory Toyota Bluetooth and the stock radio does require steering wheel control wiring I take it. I was hoping the answer and hangup functions were duplicate on the deck. Thanks guys.
yup you can only operate the bluetooth from the wheel, if you want bluetooth, go to your local stealership and get this

Fisrt off, if you are going spend all this $$$$ why don't you get a aftermarket radio, maybe witha 7" - 8" screen that has everything built in?
I have a garmin GPS that has built in blue touth with a 3.5mm output. If I get a 3.5mm cable, I can connect the GPS to the aux input BUT I would have to put it in AUX mode and press the GPS everytime I want to accept a call.
Basically there are options. Don't understand why you would want factory so bad when there are aftermarket suff that is better then factory... and I am talking about head units.
Going factory means you need a new steering wheel and head unit and will need to wire the steering wheel. Just does not make sense to me.

Josh-
I don't need navi, never said I did in this thread.
The Chinese Navi's are pretty poor quality (I had one). Igo Maps which come on all them are pretty bad IMO.
Aftermarket in dash units do not look right (Again, I had two Pioneer AVICs).
I don't use a Garmin. My phone pairs automatically over Bluetooth for both phone and A2DP. It streams Pandora, Navi instructions, and phone calls all wirelessly. No switching inputs, my phone automatically mutes and unmutes between them.
I had a simple question not at all related to Navi's which has already been answered.
