5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I purchased some 35W 8000k Xentec HIDs for my 2011 Camry SE.
I installed them last night and noticed the right side bulb sort of flickering, not necessarily flickering off and on, but like the light bulb had 2 filiments and they were just dancing around....
I changed the bulb out since I had 2 kits, one for low beams, one for spotters, and it stopped, but once I took it for a spin BOTH lights are now doing this...
I have one ballast mounted to the ABS and one mounted on the side of the fuse panel, so I would understand if the ABS one would be grounding out or something, but BOTH?
Perhaps I just bought crappy kits, they were like 40 bucks a piece...
I did not get the relays or anything extra, perhaps I need some sort of Anti-flicker capacitor? like below:
But still the problem is that it isnt flickering off and on, but rather dancing like a piece of the bulb is loose or something, which everything is strong and I have mounted lights and HID kits before....
I installed the same type of kits in my scion tC and I had no problems, thoughts?

Try DDM Tuning, lots of members here have bought from them. I'm not saying they're the best cause some had problems with it too. But it is a more known brand for HID kits and I think DDM gives you lifetime warranty.
Or you can try Advance Speed Shop and look for their HID kit (Element 54 or something). People say this is good also.
But DDM's HID is the cheapest of all.
Do you really want 8000K? Cause I just had a vision problem with 6000K.
And lets face it, if these don't work, I am going back to Xenons.... I have like 8600k in my highs and I really like them, they almost match my lows 8000k HID...When they are working

DDM might be popular on this forum and others but their quality control isn't on par as others like xenondepot.com aka kbcarstuff.com
I have ordered from xenondepot before on my other car and my brother bought DDMtunnng kit. After installation my brothers DDM kit had issues with ballist, and with mine xenondepot kit (kbcarstuff) I had no issues and it was in my car for 1.5 years with no issues.
As for my brothers DDM kit he had to go through 2 ballist and a bulb to be replaced..
Im not saying xenondepot is the best or DDM just plan sucks is just that DDM quality control isn't there.
And right now that is what I have on my carmy right now xenondepot (kbcarstuf) 4300k philips kit. I have no issues at all...
I have had it in my carmy for 4 months and counting.
Good luck.
go to kbcarstuff.com and tell steve that Wesley A. sent ya
With time, your ballasts are going to screw up your ABS unit, it's happened to many people all over the internet where the ballast emits a high frequency pitch that damages the ABS unit. I wouldn't mount a ballast on a fuse box, either. My rule of thumb is on or near nothing electrical..
I explained it well, along with another member or two, in this thread.
Also: DDM is a hit or miss. The warranty (lifetime) is nice, and the 25 dollar price tag is too, but it's just a great hassle to have them fail and have to have them replaced.

Mine are mounted on the frame rails in front of the battery and same for the other side, just like ur pics on that thread. So I should be good right? Been running with it for almost 2 years now.
