5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I ordered some body side-moldings for my 6th gen Camry but am undecided if I really like the look or not and I have not yet received them. I can return them and eat the return shipping costs or try them out. Any opinions?

I was not fond of them until someone bashed the door and dinged it real good, right where the molding would have been. I had to pay a guy handsomely to push it out. The next week I had side moldings. Now I have moldings and a dozen dings, all in the molding that can be easily touched up. The steel is still clean and untouched. They may not be pretty but they danged sure are a practical solution to parking lot idiots.

Ive got it on my ride. It comes stock standard here. I personally dont like it because i love the look of the camry without it (like waht you guys have in the US) but a few members here actually like the side moulding as they dont come stock standard there?

its all about personal taste and protection for you car. tbh I have it on my grey LE camry, and It saved me from one door slamming in mine. And that was just recently, and you can tell because it shows a little dent and a paint chipped off from the moldings. It was pretty deep and Im glad it protected my doors that time, other wise it would have been worst.
I actually love the rocker panels on the lexus es... hmmm
Oh yea, forget about the Lexus Moldings... went to a showroom today and took a look at them. They are molded to the contours of the Lexus door, which is very similar but not exactly the same as the Camry door. The Lexus doors are also slightly smaller (which wouldn't be a big deal).
Also, the GS rockers look pretty sweet, but they are embedded into the doors themselves it appears lol... no way to put these on.

meh, the modder side of me doesn't like it, the practical side of me likes it. i don't know how much they cost but if they're cheap i say keep it, if not return it.
They cost about $75-80. About the same as having the dent guy come out and push out one smack. These might be ugly but are you going to stare at them all the time? They actually blend in. My car is 4+ years old now, and I can count a whole slug of dings, all in the rubber molding. I'd rather have the dings absorbed by the molding than by the sheet metal panel. BTW, the gauge of these has to be thinner than 20 years ago. They bend too easily.
