5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have a 2008 camry XLE V6. I wanna upgrade it for some extra horsepower and theres so many options. Whats the best thing out there besides a k&n cold air intake and a borla exhaust.
Get the combo of intake, headers, exhaust and once you get that out of the way. Next is go for advance cams ( if they make any). And then pulleys. Then get it tune. Bam you're done to get that extra hp. Rofl. Lol. Good luck. Oh yea ecu of course can be reprogram.
get a fujita intake, do a custom exhaust wit the headers that popped up on here not to long ago, and get something like the aem fix so u can tune it a bit. should be enough. anything more and u'll be looking at lots of money. all motor setups ain't cheap.
There are also a few people who turboed their V6. You could do that if you really wanted to, but it will cost you a pretty penny. But like my friend always says, you have to pay to play.
The Camry, even the V6, is considered a 'family sedan'. You aren't going to find much that will substantially improve the horsepower ow what you have now, and honestly, it has more power than it needs for its intended purpose. What you really need is something along the lines of a Mustang or Corvette. You can spend a fortune on crap for the Camry and you will never see a dime back out of it compared to similar purchases for a Camaro or Mustang. Save your money and buy a mutual fund or burn it on stuff for the car.
Always check with your insurance agent before spending gross amounts on stuff to let them know to insure it properly.

"People who think they know it all are particularly irritating to those of us who do."
Instead of adding parts, lets REMOVE parts. That way you can make it feel like its got more power
Rip everything in your interior out except your driver seat and steering wheel.
Remove your power steering, a/c, cruise control, abs and everything else that isnt needed.
Try it out, take pics of the outcome if you do decide to take this route
+1. There's a few things you can do to bump the power up 10-20 ponies (intake, header, exhaust) but other than that... you're going to have to spend THOUSANDS. As far as computer upgrades go... a standalone or piggyback ECU isn't going to do much without other mods (forced induction) and a good tune.
So, best option = buy another car.

If you're looking for a lot of power for cheap then get a different car that has a lot of performance mods already available for it. If you're not worried about the money and you really love your Camry that much and want to see what it's capable of doing then you'll have to do custom work cause there just aren't enough Camry owners out there that are looking for that kind of power for performance companies to do the R&D on those kinds of parts.
