5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have a 2002 Camry XLE with 82000km on the clock. I need to change the brake pads all round and I'm thinking of doing the front rotors as well, as one of them is slightly scored. I'm not a believer in having rotors turned.
As I'm limited for choice to the pads and rotors I can purchase, I was thinking of buying them from NAPA. Prices are as follows:
Main Stealer - pads front & rear $82.73 each, rotors $99.95 each
Candian Tire - Monroe pads $69.30 (f) $52.76 (r), rotors - $81.24 - $105.12 each
Napa (Waterloo) -pads $65.18 (f) $68.45 (r), rotors $57.88 each
I haven't listed some of the cheapest prices (poor quality), however, I don't want to pay over the odds.
Just wondered what peoples thoughts were on the Napa pads and rotors, or if anyone knows anywhere in Kitchener/Waterloo where I can get better quality/price.
Figure out the pad you want and go online to like rock auto and see if they have a better deal. For daily driving you don't need anything to crazy just some simple pads and rotors should cost much.

Front & Rear pads are MSRP$ 52.99 Front rotor is $107.69 MSRP, but I would need to know if it were a 4 or 6 cylinder. I do offer 30% off MSRP and I only charge actual shipping costs plus $2.00 for materials, time, etc. Canadian customers pay all duties and taxes, so I am not sure if you'd be interested in purchasing from me or not, becuase I know shipping can get up there in price. But, if you want OEM, this may be an option you're interested in.

They actually make different ones for 4 or 6 bangers?
Are any of those pads ceramic pads? I've gone to ceramics on three vehicles now and have had nothing but excellent results. No squeal, excellent wear, no brake dust on your wheels, and exceptional stopping power. I highly recommend you spend a few more dollars for a set.
02-06 4CYL Yes they can come in ceramic. The XLE and SE no and not for the 07 - as of yet.

Thanks for the offer, but it's just too much hassle at the moment for me to even consider plus I really need to get the brakes done now.
NAPA gold? or platinum rotors $120 for set + Wagner ceramic pads-$60.
Got same set up on second car.
Rotors work perfectly, never had better brake pads.
Don't buy autozone duralast!

We had to buy Duralast front rotors on mom's quest because of a last minute decision. The word squealing is an understatement. We put moly grease on all the contact points and they still squeak to no end.
Thanks to everyone for their assistance. Unfortunately, I didn't have a lot of choice, so I bought some Monroe pads (2 year warranty) from Candian Tire. Not the best I know. The rotors aren't as bad I thought they were hence they don't need replacement.
2004 Camry with the 3.0L 6 cylinder. Put Wagner Thermoquiets on it and have had no issues with squeaks or noise. The pads have 54,000 miles on them now with no issues.
