New Wheel Project Polished SE Wheels

Here is my latest project.

I took SE Wheels:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

And polished the machined portion of the spoke:

I took 1000 grit wet sand paper with a orbital sander than 1500 grit. Then polished them out to a shine.

It took about 4 hours to do one wheel

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

It looks good just three more to go !! Let me know your thoughts..

I will proably leave them uncoated, since it will not take a lot of effort to keep them looking good. I clean my car a lot so brake dust build up will not be an issue.

And since, they are aluminum they will not rust they will only dull and need to have a quick re-polish ever few months.

Looks great, always had that idea in mind but never went through with it.

I think painting the other part gunmetal or black might look nice

Good luck with that. Steel rusts; aluminum oxidizes. As soon as the road salt hits that clean aluminum this winter you will revisit the decision not to clear coat those wheels.

I am in southeast Virginia and do not get very much if any snow. I have polished wheels before like these and they have held up fine.

In addition, I currently have 18" Lexus G-Spyder Wheels on my car now (which I really like), so the rush to finish polishing these and putting them on will be well after March.. More than likely

Agreed, because clear coating it just makes it easy to go through car washes, clean yourself, different types of weather without worry.

But then these are stock wheels so it's not a huge investment loss heh, though you might find you lose out on a couple quarts of elbow grease you put into it.
