5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I'm guessing the FT-86 will have a Turbocharged option, even the tC has one.
Actually Toyota has no vehicle right now that would actually be suitable for more power. If they wanted to give the Camry or Avalon more than 300HP, that would be an easy supercharger, or toss the 2GR-FSE from the Lexus IS350 in there (partial direct injection). It might happen, but it's hard to tell. Maxima pushes 280HP but that's about it for competition. If they have no competition in this segment, I'm not sure if they have the incentive to put in the more exclusive 300HP engine used in the Lexus. Maybe as a top of the line option.
Actually, Toyota needs a new lineup completely. Give us the Aurion in AWD as a legitimate Maxima competitor, give us the FT-86 as the coupe and convertible, that would be a nice start.
they going to pull it in Europe first. they crazy there about turbo.
1.4 turbo camry? sorry, I'm buying 2.5 or if I afford it 3.5 naturally aspirated camry.
look what happening with turbo VW's,low reliability and most of them needs new engine by 100K, no one wants them in US.People buying them in europe because they don't have much choice, high import and property taxes killing big engines.
ask how much MPG people getting in realty on 2.0T passat- same as 3.5 Camry.
good luck with turbo toyota, I'll be looking for V-6.

Turbo V6 man, that's what we're hoping for.
Actually, I'm fairly happy about my car right now. It's fast and looks good, and there's nothing out there I want anymore!
I had the Audi S5 in mind for a while, but they seem like a pretty looking car that plays second fiddle to BMW. Mercedes doesn't make anything nice looking anymore that's even remotely affordable, maybe if they another E63 AMG Coupe. I still love the M3s but damn, the new 5 series are freaking awesome looking. Might be looking at an M5 in the future.
But another part of me wants to stay JDM, german cars are nice but they don't really seem to connect with me.
Infiniti has nothing I want right now, though the limited edition G Coupe is very nice. Lexus has nothing I want, I can't wait to see what the next IS based on the FT-86 will look like. The next GS will hopefully be much more impressive looking. The LF-A I will never afford so that's out of the picture lol. It would be interesting to see an SC revival or something. Acura is just sad right now. They got a hot TSX but they don't offer an SH-AWD or 300HP with it . TL is horrendous and Honda's got nothing.
Next few years should be a good time for waiting for exciting new cars, in the meantime, I'm definitely happy with my daily driver.
mjz idk the new tsx is nice. we have a turbo one here with around 280 to the wheels or so haha. the new 2.4 is same as old one just 1 vtec cam instead of 2 so they love boost. trust me i drove the turbo one haha.
i would love to see a revival of the sc(they are saying one is in the cards) or a more powerful 2dr camry. for now we can dream. i will just go to the aftermarket to make my dreams a reality...
i said they need to bring out turbo because everyone else is doing it, yea camry is a family car, i agress but turbo will be great.
or toyota is going to lose people like this

Yea the TSX is the hottest Acura now (though I like their ZDX too lol), but the TL is a much higher performer so that really bloooows ass. The TL has a narrow ass butt and terrible stance ... Honda is effing stupid in their design decisions.
TSX needs the 300HP TL engine it and SH-AWD and it'd be all set. It'd be the nicest Accord Honda has ever made lol.
stock i4 would never smoke me. even the older ones. the new v6 tsx would keep up but i think i might beat it but barely. this turbo i4 prob can suprise a few cars on the road. definitely our v6s lol. the boost hits quick and hard. plus if he swaps to the old heads with the 2 vtec cams then we really screwed lol.
