Hello All
I am relatively new to the community. I don’t post much but I like to read random posts. NJerald I think his name is, effin hilarious. Anyway, I was driving today and my VSC light came on. The symbol with the car sliding. I don’t understand why this would come on randomly and stay on. Only reason I am thinking is because it’s very cold outside and the car is letting me know that it could potentially be slippery out. My old car used to do something similar. When the temp when below 34 degrees the dash would read ICY regardless if it cold and dry outside.
The car is 2011 SE I4 automatic with 7,000 miles. What do you guys think?
Is this Normal for it to come on in cold weather?
Thanks in advance!
I have a 2011 SE Manual with 2100 miles
It stayed on completely?
Mine will come on and blink when my car is sliding all over the place. Annoying, because when the TC kicks on it makes it worse. Mine is blinking all the time regardless it seems, because the Turanza tires on the car are summer tires, so it has no traction on anything.
When it annoys me too much I press and hold in the TC button for 3 seconds....TC and VSC turn off and stay off. Both lights are lit on the dash at that point. But at least TC isn't being retarded then.

I think one light is to show that its armed i guess then the other two lights are all the way to the right show that its engaged? Two of the same symbols one next to the button to change mileage view and the other one. My left side VSC is on. I am certain that I am not slipping by any means.
If the one on the far left is on, I would take it in to get it looked at. It shouldn't be on all the time, just flash when you're slipping. The two lights on the right you can pop on when you turn off the VSC and TC.

The far left light is on. It is weird as it goes and comes. I recently installed a my stereo. Head Unit, rear speakers, front speakers, amp and sub woofers. This should not have anything to do with this correct? They are two different things. I cant imagine that light being set off from a basic stereo install.
It shouldn't have set anything off....unless the wiring got messed up somewhere. I'm assuming the light is tripped by a wire, and not a sensor, because of the button to turn it off near the steering wheel.

I would bring it in anyway, and at least see if the light popping on is triggered by the stereo install. If it's not, then I don't see why it wouldn't be covered under your warranty.

Yes it does....when I had my Mustangs I of course wanted to install CAI's, headers, dump the cats, underdrive pulleys, etc., but had to watch out for that stupid warranty. Now I think I'm not going to care anymore lol.

If the lights on and staying on it indicates a malfunction in the stability control system. Take it to the dealer. DONT mention ANYTHING about the install either. Dont give them ANY reason to decide to be lazy and deny you warranty service

Do you think this will make the car brake harder? I feel like my braking power has decreased but this has been for a month now and the install was three days ago.
It should have nothing to do with your braking system in normal driving. Hell, having the TC/VSC on as opposed to me (out of annoyance) shutting them off hasn't changed the car's braking in any way for me. But with the light being on.....it might make some difference but as you say you've noticed it before the light came on.
Like we've suggested....take it in and get it looked at.
