i sent you a PM telling you what you will need to do, but for the others here, what i basically told him was one of at least three things could be wrong:
1) the new seal could have been installed backwards, this can happen
2) the new seal got damaged when re-installing the torque converter
3) the pump seal can indeed be leaking.
i went on to also say that when installing a new seal, always give it a coating of the fluid that it is there to seal from leaking. in this case, since its an ATF seal, then coat it with ATF fluid. this will help the parts glide together easier and can prevent tearing or ripping of the seals. now "some seals" have a tiny spring inside the circumference of the seal which holds it to the shaft. if installed wrong or if allowed to be installed on an angle and not straight on, when installing the torque converter, that tiny spring will come off, and this WILL allow leakage as well. but this is only "some seals" that have this tiny spring.
if a seal is bi-directional, meaning it can be installed both ways, then this should not be a problem....AND it WILL NOT have a spring
HOWEVER, some seals have a "printed side" to it. this printed side must be OUT facing you when it is installed properly.....THIS TYPE of seal WILL HAVE a tiny spring..... i do not know the type of seal the torque converter has for toyota.
Toyotapartsman will know......
