A/C Problem, need advice

I have this in the Sienna forum, but traffic is really light there.

2005 Sienna rear a/c randomly changes speeds
The rear a/c and heat send out the correct temperature of air, but the speed randomly fluctuates. The level knob on the dash can make the speed change, but not necessarily to what I want it to be, and then it still goes to another speed in a few minutes.

The Toyota dealer wanted to replace some control unit for $800++. Way over my budget.

Anyone else have this problem?

Camrys don't have variable rear air, but if it works part of the time I would start by checking any electrical connections related to the fan unit. The problem might be at the front, so check those wires connecting the rear to the front. Sounds to me that a single wire might be making a oor connection and is opening at random times.
