Canada Can a bad catalytic converter cause vibration?

Hi,

I have a 2003 camry v6. The check engine light has recently come on and I can hear a problem with the exhaust. So I'm thinking maybe the catelytic converter. I'm also noticing now a big vibration when accelerating. Once I reach the speed and take my foot off the gas pedal the vibration stops.
Does this make sense to anyone. In other words can a bad converter cause vibrations upon acceleration?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

I haven't had a chance to get the code checked yet. But I definitively can hear a problem with the exhaust and of course the vibration upon acceleration.

If it's clogged you'll see a definite drop in the RPMs like it's governed and if it's bad enough the exhaust will backfill into the engine and the engine will shut off.

OP,

Your best bet is to climb under your car and follow the exhaust/muffler and see if anything is loose or if the cat is scratched or dented where you might have scraped it. Sometimes people hit it on speed bumps etc and break the honeycomb/beading inside of it.
