Glove box damper

Can anyone please help me with the glove box damper that got removed accidently when I recently changed the cabin air filter. Because of this the glove box if opened pops open and falls ; also it's not easy to shut.

The damper has a pair of holes (appear to be 3/16") on one side and a larger 1/4" on the opposite side which extends. I tried to get one of the 3/16" holes to connect to the far end of what looks like separated tabs, but the hole seems too small....or I'm looking at the wrong thing.

I have an '07 Camry CE

Thanks in advance.

Hook it to the tab on the dash first, install the glove box, and then stretch the damper out and hook the loop around the tab on the box. One hand for the damper, one hand for the box.

Thanks for your response...that's a better idea than what I was trying to do..i.e get my fingers in there with glove box half open...LOL...

Also, as I indicated the "hole" appears to be a tad too small that goes on the dash end....maybe squeeze the separated tabs with needle nose plyers and slip the damper on??....however, getting the damn glove box out completely would help for sure !!!

Don't be afraid to use some force. Push it on a little harder, it can handle it, lol.

You can get the glove box out. Push in the sides, it's hard, but push in hard, then pull out hard. How do you think we get cabin filters out? We take out the glove box.
