Australia 2008 Camry hard cold start

Hi folks,

I have a 2008 Camry and it's been hard to start the engine in the morning. Cranking takes longer than normal. But after that it's fine during the whole day. These days the problem has developed. In the morning the first try always fails, the engine struggles to start, making a lower than normal sound, but stops when I ease the key. It will start at the second try though.

Battery? Spark plug? Throttle? Any ideas what I need to check will be very much appreciated. I tried to turn the key to On for a while before cranking but it didn't work.

Thanks
Charlie

The car has done 49000 kms and is still under warranty.

Now I think it's a flooded engine - I tried the method on the manual: depress the accelerator pedal then start the engine - it succeeded this morning.
But I'm not sure if it's a workaround or fix. I'm taking the car to the dealer tonight.

Has anyone met this problem before?
