5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Has anyone found the secret keys for overriding the nav on a 2011 Camry with version 10.1? I am trying to find a software workaround prior to committing to the hardware one. The prestigious society fix is expensive and the lockpick is not available for 2011 for the two hardware fixes I know of. I know its only a matter of time before someone figures it out.
I have successfully made a working hybrid DVD but have not loaded the older firware into active memory. That three year old post was a ton of reading. Before I commit I want to find out if there are any irreversable affects. Using a 5.1 version file on a 10.1 version disk I may lose a ton of other functions.
One great thing is that I was always worried with my 2003 Acura TL that someone would steal/swap my Map Disk while the car was not in my hands. Now that I have a backup, I can keep my disk at home.
Now I need to find out how to disable the seatbelt alarm after starting the car.
I will eventually perform the last step and load the older firmware, I just want to be safe and well informed in doing so. Car is only 5 mos old.
Next time you bring your vehicle in for service tell your advisor that you would like to turn off the seatbelt warning sound, they'll be able to do that for you @ no cost with techstream
The only difference between 10.1 and 5.1 are the menus. Obviously, the higher the firmware, the newer the maps. There is no adverse effect. I've been using 7.1 hybrid and have had no problems. I've tried making my own hybrid but always came out with empty coasters. I would love to have a 10.1 hybrid if someone is willing to make me one. I'll cover shipping.

hey i'd be more than willing to help you out. i'm a newb on here, but was a long standing member of SiennaClub before jack disappeared on us.
anyhow - i'm going to be trying a 9.1 hybrid using a 5.1 loading file later today. but mine is for a Gen5.
i think we're in the same area so it should be easy to meet up.
no worries i'm not looking for a quick buck or any scummy thing like that. in just a day of registering here i found a wealth of information - so figure a newb's way of giving back.
I actually just finished burning my 6.1 right now with the old loader, I might try to get the hybrid DVD and try to the samething, but im soo used to my menu that I dont think i'll get used to it, but if Im able to do it and it works fine i'll let you know.
my 9.1 with 5.1 loader seems to be a success. it loaded fine and i can scroll around, and a couple of big biz that weren't on old one are on this..
one thing odd that happened was when I did the override and went back to the "menu" screen, i pressed OK and got some sort of unable to read contact dealer BS. i just turned car off and on again - and it worked fine.
i might have to do another burn tho... as this disc was burning, i moved my laptop, which made the active protection suspend the hard drive. snowballed into a "waiting for HD activity to resume" message out of IMGBurn as the buffer was starting to empty.
seems like i'll have to keep the original or a backup of the original in the car incase this spazzes out.
Has anyone been sucessful increating a working generation 4, 5.1/10.1 hybrid naviagation disc
I have been trying but without success.
The closest I got was a disc that would load but would not allow me into the dstination screen

Did you disconnect the battery? I noticed that if you have the old DVD and put in your Hybrid and try it, it either gives you an error that the DVD can't be read or it continues to work but it doesnt.
Yes I did disconnect th battery and left it disconnected for a period of time before loading the hybrid disc.
Have you successfully created a hybrid disc?
i didn't have to do the battery thing. just put in the hybrid.. it took a minute but loaded fine. then i did the override screen and clicked loading. then okay. it prompted "loading" with an OK and Cancel. I pressed OK and it started the whole system loading, do not turn off stuff.
so far almost a week + i'm seeing no more side effects, other than that first blip.
