remote start w/ oem remote

I got a coolstart rs-4 remote starter for my 2002 camry xle. I have everything wired and working except that I want to use the factory keypad. This requires me to connect to a wire that grounds when the lock button is pressed on the keypad. If someone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

^I may be wrong but I think, as far as I know, the only way to work a remote start with the factory remote is to use Toyota's remote start system.

This remote start will work as long as I find a wire that grounds when I press the lock button on my keypad. It works by activating after three lock pulses. I have tested the remote start by touching the wire to a ground three times and it started. If I can find the wire I should be good. It may also require a relay but I'm not sure.

The unlock wire for the doors is usually blue or green on Toyotas. Check the rubber boot running from the door into the car.

OK, figured it out today. It was the blue/red wire in the 13 pin connector at the driver's side kickpanel. Because the remote start requires 3 negative pulses and the ecm doesn't send the signal if the doors are already locked, I have to press lock unlock lock (each lock sends a double pulse). I posted this just incase someone else needs this info.

Thanks to everyone for there help!

If I would've known about this, I would have told you not to even install it. It's best to get standalone unit.
