Front License Plate on 07 Camry

I moved to NJ, which requires a front plate. I saw two small dimples on the front bumper. Is the best way to put a plate on there to drill through those dimples? Is there any other way?

Option 1: Drill holes
Option 2: Buy a relocator bracket, drill holes in inconspicuous area in the under side of the bumper
Option 3: Zip tie to lower grill

You can also get a hideaway plate that mounts underneath your bumper and can be remote controlled.

If you want to put your plate on your bumper, don't use the dimples. Drill your own holes above it so it doesn't block your lower grille.

Yes. Those dimples are the factory location. If you don't mind it there, the best thing is to drill in the place the bracket is made for. The bracket will cover the holes, so there's nothing to really worry about there. Like some others have said, a custom location is cool too.

There is also a bracket sold by Toyota that screws in through the plate and goes through those same holes. It uses longer screws. It gives the car a more finished look. I ordered the bracket when I ordered my 07 Camry new in late 06. It was around $20 back then. The Toyota part number is(was) 52114-06030. If you order it, make sure it fits your year of the generation 6.

2010 2011 changes

The part number does not have two sixes in it.

Here are two brackets that are used. The part number changes after Feb 2009. The part number ending in 30 has list price of 15.00 and the one ending in 80 is 65.82 OUCH!!!

Rob,

Thanks for the correction. I went back and edited my previous post so there is no confusion in case someone refers to this thread in the future.

I went to Home Depot, bought a couple long bolts and clips and it's mounted through the grille under my bumper. Kept the bumper clean and looks better.
Put a strip of 3m foam adhesive on the back of the plate so it wouldn't scratch the paint. Like so..
