Gen5 Door sensors not working

So when I open the door, everything happens the way it's supposed to: the door ajar light turns on in the dash and the dome light turns on.
But sometimes, the light in the dash turns off after a few seconds even though the door is open. Where are the sensors in the door?
Car is 05 LE

The door switch is on the bottom corner of the door opening, towards the centre of the car, facing outwards. You will need a torx bit to remove it.

bump. Unfortunately, I'm experiencing the same issues as DftMachine. I've gone ahead and unscrewed the door switch, but that's as much as I could do. I could not remove the switch assembly itself, nor the rubber covering to just wd40 it. Any thoughts on what I should do?

I had a similar problem with the driver's door switch, where it would intermittently fail to close the contact with the door open. As a result the auto off headlights would occasionally fail to work.

From memory the switch itself was cheap as, around AU$13? Just change it if in doubt.
