PCV Valve clean or change?

2AZ-Fe, 02 Camry, 4 cyl.

Is it a must to replace PCV valve or can it just be cleaned with carb cleaner?

I cleaned mine, little bit gunk dissolved and came out, then it's clean.

PCV didn't look like a wear item.(Just seem to be a simple check valve, not even spring loaded).

For the money and effort to clean, replace it.

They either work or don't work. Blow through it and test. If it is open, use it over. Cleaning can't hurt but might not be needed. More importantly, blow air into the port it is attached to in the valve cover to verify THAT path is clear.
