How to get MIL to blink so you can read the MIL code

A buddy of mine, has a nissan maxima and his MIL light came on. He told me that he flips a switch and the mil light will blink and that will alert him of the trouble code.

Can you do this with the 2011 camry as well. I did a google search and i saw where some one did this with a 98 camry by jumping a switch under the hood?

Thanks,

Joe

On some cars i think one can turn the key from off to on like 2 times then again to ON. (So off, on, off, on, then on) That will make the MIL light flash and there is a pattern to it...

I would be curious if this works on gen5/gen6?

Did you mean on, off, on, off, then on.

I don't have a MIL on right now just wondering for the future

There is a pretty cool app for android that will read codes you just have to buy an adapter piece for your car, to blue tooth it over to phone.
