Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Does anyone know how to shut off the feature that cuts car off when you unlock doors after using your remote start?
Could you be more specific? I have a 2011 automatic with Push button start. I added an Omegalink OL-AL(MDB)-TL1 Excalibur remote start system and, according to the shop that did the job, there is no takeover available for this car. By "takeover" I mean that once the engine is started with the remote start, there is no way to switch from the remote start to factory start. Once I open the door the engine shuts off and all doors must be shit to remote start the car.
Some friends also got the job done with me including a 2011 Honda CR-V. This vehicles "takeover" would be done by inserting the key and turning it to the start position in the ignition after the car is remote started. If this was not done, the moment you shifted gears, the engine would shut off. Another friend with a 2008 Lexus GS350's takeover would be done by stepping on the brake pedal after remote start.
I was told that it was a software issue and not a harware issue. So if the company that makes the bypass comes up with a software update for a Takeover, then the engine will not shut off once the doors are oppened.
My 09 ford F150 had the same problem but I found a link to disable the safety feature so hoping to find someone that knows a link to disable the safety feature on my camry

Again, could you be more specific?? What kind of remote start do you have?

Houston-TX: need key chip, remote, or body features programming? PM me.
You could away glue the switch on the door in the always closed position, so when you open the door the car thinks the door is still closed, the only other thing this would affect would be the feature that turned your lights on when you open the door.
I still want to find a Remote start system that i can add to my Factory Key. Since the FOB and Key are integrated into each other. I don't want a separate remote just to start the car. I want to be able to unlock the car with the factory remote while engine is running. As well not have it turn off unless the brake pedal is depressed. Also I am not giving up a key to bypass imobilizer
The 4003 says you can use it with your factory OEM Key, but i think the catch here is that you have to used your key to unlock the door get in.
The 4113 comes with a small remote but the description says
"The convenience of remote start in the smallest-size Avital remote ever. Perfect for use with OEM keyless remotes integrated into the OEM key. Get the longer range for remote starting you want!"
& this one gives you the option to unlock the doors with the factory remote while engine is running.
The 4103 say the same thing in the description that its perfect for use with the OEM keyless remote integrated into the OEM key. This one allows you to lock unlock and even send a signal to defrosters.
None of them mention car turning off when door is opened. Once the Camry is turned ON the keyless entry remote doesn't work, so that why i think I should go with the 4113, or the 4103, I just want to make sure to be able to use the factory remote.
No matter what I get I will also have to get an device that will disable the imobilzer.
I have the 2009 toyota camry se package. The remote start is the Toyota factory Remote Start. Any other information needed? The car doesn't shut off when I open the doors, it is shut off when I unlock the doors. It doesn't matter if I use the remote or use the key on the door. When the door is unlocked, the remote start shuts the car off. Thanks for any help given
Ummm that's what I heard too, but I currently have an 09 LE with remote start. I have it functioned with a module bypass. The remote start system is the compustar pro series. I forget what the bypass is though. At first when I was reading the manual it said that would happen to my car too, but after I used the bypass module, it works like a charm.

You probobly do not have the Smart Key Push button Start system, right?? There are bypass systems out there that work fine with the regular key ignition camrys...

Yeah I think this is annoying too, I hate the fact that I can start my car by remote but once I hit the unlock button it dies. I wish I could bypass that feature, then I'd feel it would be useful on the cold days. Instead I still run outside and start it up rather than having it warm up then shut down only to restart it again within the next 30 seconds. That can't be good for the car.

I don't have the smart key. I have the regular key ignition so if you know of how to get a bypass system installed or where to find one, please let me know. Until I find this, i'm getting no use out of my remote start. Like said in another post, no point in using remote start just to start it again and where your starter, etc... out. thanks for all help by everyone
#1 Reason why I have bought my last Toyota is the issue by where you remote start the car and then unlock it only to have the engine shut off and have to restart the car. I too have searched for a answer for two years and no one seems to have come up with a solution. Therefore sorry Toyota......
