2009 Camry gas gauge question`

I have a 2009 Camry. The gas gauge is stock. I have a simple question. When you turn the car off does the gas gauge go to empty or stay at the current position? Could you check? Mine seems to be sticking at positions. I just want to see whats normal. Thanks

it stays there for a bit and then it goes down to empty till you start your car again and will show you how much gas you have or when you put it on..ON...

See mine stays at the gas level. The dealer said that is normal. But it never did that before. To me it's just a sign that failure is coming to it.

so it still stays at the position when you come back to it the next morning?

yes, but on some days i go out to the car it will go to E. It's intermittent but most of the time now stays where it was. So it should go down to empty with the key out of the ignition?

When you turn the key in the ignition it should re-level the gauges.

It doesn't... The gas gauge usually doesnt go to empty with the car turned off or anywhere near empty.... It stays where it was. Some morning I go out and it will be at Empty, but on most I go outside and it is wherever it was.

When the gas gauge is left in the same place the next morning and you turn your car on, does the gauge move at all or just stay where it is?

There are gears in every one of the needles (i've taken them apart on a spare set) so gravity itself isn't going to pull the needle down, therefor it's NOT normal. The controller has to actually move them down to the zero position, the same as the temperature gauge goes to zero.

I'm sure Toyota will not do anything unless it reports the incorrect amount of gas WHEN you have the car running.

Jonez, Everything goes to zero but the gas. It used to. I have 1,000 miles left in my warranty and would like to get it fixed because to me it seems to be the early onset of a problem.
