5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Does anyone know what the first 2011 VIN production number is? I'm talking about the last six digits. I know they don't typically start at 000001. I'm thinking they started at 100001, but don't know for sure. Mine is 126###, so I think it's one of the earlier 2011 models. TMMK, by the way.
It's not going to be 100001 either unless it is just by chance. They can build one car this morning and call it a 2010 and the next in line is a 2011 since there are no body changes. See if you can find a listing for 2010 vins and it might give you a better idea. Don't forget the sticker on the door jam that tells you the month of production, the code on the transmission that will give you that manufacturer date, and if all fails, you can email Toyota corporate and they will tell you what you want to know.

Right, but at the same time, the model year character in the VIN will change and the sequential production number would also typically go back at what they 'start' at and count back up from there. With GM cars, they typically start the last six digits at 100001 and count up from there. From the recent thread about transmission shifting issues on the 2010/2011 models, I'm guessing that Line 1 began at 100001 and Line 2 began at 600001 and each counts up from there.
I will call Toyota Corporate and see what they say. They gave me the exact production date for my old Corolla, and were friendly in the process.
When was your Camry built? My 2011 was built August 6, 2010, at TMMK, and the last 6 digits are "637635". And they're still building 2011's.
Our 5 oldest 2011 Camrys on the dealership lot were built at the end of March and have VIN sequences of (from oldest to newest):
132062
132178
132565
132674
133265
But we also have a Camry built in June that has a sequence of 120192, and another one from April with a sequence of 105891. All built at TMMK....so they kinda vary.
Highest # sequence we have is 707886, built just 2 weeks ago. But we have nothing beginning with 3, 4, or 5. lol

Hey, thanks for the reply! I found out from the Toyota customer service number that my Camry will turn ONE on 02/25/2011! So next Friday is her first birthday. VIN is 12607x. It's an early 2011 model, but I'm just not sure how early. It makes sense, because its VIN is lower than your March models starting with 3. If yours were built at the end of March, they're approximately 30 days behind mine, and about 6,000 behind mine in the sequence.
Does TMMK turn out 200 Camrys a day on each line? That sounds more than plausible...that's a little over 8 cars an hour figuring a 24 hour work day. I figure they'd be doing a car a MINUTE, but maybe they're not working 24 hours. If they're working one shift, that's 25 cars/hour, if the VIN sequencing really is sequential. Toyota customer service said they did not have the information regarding the first production VIN sequence number for a 2011 model. They opened a case for me and actually called back, but with the same thing...they didn't have the info.
It's weird, the June and April Camrys. Everything seems to make sense but those. Hmm...
Would Toyota be able to find out when my Cressida was made or do the records not go that far back? I know my Pickup was built 8/28/1993.

^I think it depends on the manufacturer. Ford could tell me when my 95 Mustang was built (9/4/1994), but they didn't have the window sticker in the files anymore. And some won't even tell you more than 10 years back when it was built. Call 'em up and find out

Yeah, sorry I couldn't help more on the VIN situation, but we do produce a car in plant one at this time every 2 minutes and plant 2 produces a car every minute. Times do vary with economic conditions, at full capacity we will produce 2100 vehicles per day. The trans come from TMMWV and TMMC then we pick up from there on the powertrain.

Mine has a lower production number than yours. 12607x vs. 12666x. Yours might have rolled off the line 590 cars after mine did. Interesting how we both own two cars built on the same day! From what I understand from KYcamrymaker offline, the numbers really aren't sequential anyway. So who knows...yours and mine might have been back-to-back on the line!
