5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I'm looking for a traction control switch that will fit into one of the blanking plugs below the steering wheel on my 2007 Toyota Aurion (virtually the same as the v6 2007+ US Camry).
It looks like the 2011 Sienna or Avalon have such a switch, but here in Australia none of our vehicles have switchable traction control so the parts are simply not available.
I have got a temporary switch wired up but being the perfectionist I am I'm wondering whether anyone here can confirm whether the above mention switches do actually fit our cars as I'd like it to look as OEM as possible.
gday from down under too! Im keen to see how you did the wiring for the traction control switch. Im not sure if your a member of tocau, but a member there (DJKOR) has actually created such set up for his TRD aurion and works perfect.

yeah I'm Steven from TOCAU - DJKOR and I are thinking of maybe putting a kit together for this mod, however to keep things looking professional we'd like to source some VSC type buttons that are a direct fit to the Aurion / Camry dash.
I'm currently using a Toyota switch that was sold as a "2004-2008 Toyota Camry Corolla Tacoma Tundra Rav 4 VSC control switch" which required cutting down and a few other mods to fit, and as a result isn't 100% perfect
You can order these switches from US based toyotaparts online stores and let them ship to down under. We do the same in the US the other way around, i.e. ordering online in Europe and Asia all the time. I just ordered and installed my JDM mirror switch, which I ordered in Japan.
Always wanted to do this mod.I know i can get the push button switch here in US but the problem is the wiring and if it's complicated or not.So can anyone here with 08-up please show us how it's connected?
I'm not sure about the US Camry, but our Aurion doesn't have any provision for the VSC switch to be directly wired up. DJKOR theorised a way to get around this by making a circuit that switched the speed sensor inputs at the ECU around so that the end result was LIKE having VSC disabled but without throwing any error codes.
In the end he and I got it working well, well enough that others want to do the same thing so we're thinking of putting together a kit for others.
The US Camry can technically be done the same way however the ECU wiring is slightly different so that would have to be sorted first.
Thanks for the heads up on the Toyota parts sites, I'll have a look around to see if I come across any but any links would be good if you have any handy.

yep I found that mob yesterday and emailed them, shipping is a minimum of $75 and they won't provide better pics or dimensions of the switch so I can compare fit first.
At $130 per switch delivered this is simply far too expensive and only reeks of ripoff. I've had steering wheels delivered from the US for less.

$75 sounds a bit expensive...but I often pay $40+ even for smallest orders from outside US. Not sure wht you mean with 'fit' - it is the standard square switch goinfg into the spot under the driver side.
Steve; i suggest you find someone in the US that can buy these for you and ship them privately. It will be way cheaper. Thats what i will be doing for a few parts with kenny in the next month (sorry for delay kenny)
