Help with 2.4l timing chain

Hello
I have a 2003 camry with the 2.4l 4 cylinder. The 3 rear head bolts striped out and head gasket leaking so i pulled the head and used time-serts in the block. Now here is my problem. we put it back together and it ran for about 7-10 minutes. then started to knock. We pulled the head and all exhaust vales were bent.
I know we set the chain right (it is colored coded links). Manual said to time oil pump chain also. we did not do that but what does that have to do with the valves bending. I have done many timing belts and chains so i do not know were i went wrong or what to look for when i put it back together.
Red link on chain was at 3 oclock and the 2 yellow marks were at the marks on the 2 cams. Any help will be nice. Thanks

I believe the timing marks on each of the cam gears have to be aligned with the timing marks on the front cam bearing caps when the #1 cylinder is at TDC.I know the oil pump drive and driven sprockets also have timing marks but don't know why. Does a new chain come with the paint marks? Regards

I have never worked on those engine but oil pump shouldn't be the reason why you have bent valves.

If the car ran fine for about 7 min, chances are the chain skipped and the timing was out. Was the timing chain guide still properly tightened after the knock?

Did you all check the valve seating before putting it back w/ time-sert?

Someone made a mistake somewhere during the installation.

get new valve stem and components(if necessary) to replace it if everything else is ok. stick with OEM stem and chain, btw.

just a update. put engine back together and it started and ran fine. i put about 20 miles on it now. i do have a pending code for a miss in cylinder #1.
it runs great going down the road but at a idle you can feel a slight miss once in a while. going to try a new plug and move the coil pack to #2 and see if code moves with it.
