5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
For the front, you are supposed to put on the eye bolt, found in the trunk, on the front bumper to tow it. For the rear, there should be two eyelets on the bottom.
Hey fellas
Not sure if the US camrys have them, but atleast the AUS and JAP made camrys have them. But i was looking into buying a jdm style tow hitch/hook. Has anyone done this for the front? Im really keen on the idea and i think it would complete the look that i am after.
If anything, anyone know what specifications of the tow hook i should be looking for?

Whats the point of over paying for a piece of metal that sticks out of your bumper to follow the cool jdm fad? When is it going to be used? Do you track your car? Do you get stuck and need to get pulled out?
Same reason why people modify the camry - it's all just for looks. And I been Looking around and 30 bucks for it seems fair decent. Just gotta see which one will fit!
If you guys don't have the hook for the front, do you guys have a front toe point somewhere else?

Those flat tow hooks you're speaking of are for (proper) race cars. As no-one has raced a Camry since the Super Tourers of the mid 90s, you'll never find one.
You can fit the screw in factory tow hook and paint it red. Then put the TOW sticker above it lol. (Or just accept that it's dumb and illegal on a road car in Aus and ignore it).

You bring up a valid point. Im not sure whats so appealing about a over priced piece of metal protruding out of the front/rear of the car but to each their own.

Im sure theres a universal one that would screw in, especially for the aurions. would be the same
Most front tow hooks will require you to cut or drill into the bumper support and adjustments to clear the bumper
Like Camrysex said, if you really want one you'll have to fabricate it. However it's fairly simple, just a piece of plate properly bolted to the support/ frame. Any workshop that builds race cars can fabricate that no problems. If you look closely at that gen3 super tourer you can just see the tow hook sticking out the front bar.
But. I'd be vary wary of driving on the street with a piece of metal sticking out the bar. It's dreadful from a pedestrian safety perspective, far more dangerous than a set of big dished wheels. Aren't you in Melbourne? They're the most hard arsed cops in all of Aus!
My 1996 Camry had a tow hook built into the front end under the car, came in handy when i got stuck in a snow drift this winter. Where am I supposed to hook a chain to my 07 Camry if it gets stuck in a snow drift? or am i just supposed to leave it there until the snow melts...haha. Might have better luck driving my 2wd truck this winter!
