Battery recharging

Could not find an answer after searching so please help.
2005 camry 3.0 v6 xle battery died,I'm planning on jump-starting and drive to auto zone/sears for a new battery.

According the manual, if recharging with the battery installed on the vehicle,be sure to discounnect the ground cable? 2005 owner's manual page 321. Really?

Any confirmation?
Thanks.

It's always been that way to reduce the chances of electrical flash explosions. They still happen. Positive to positive and ground to a metal ground on the engine or body. Why would you doubt the owners manual.

Thanks guys,I understand the steps of positive to positive and ground to an unpainted metal ground or on the engine or body that does not move when the engine is cranked.

The part that threw me off was 'if recharging with the battery installed on the vehicle, be sure to discounnect the ground cable'.

I think the confusion was on my part, I think the manual is talking about recharging with a charging machine/equipment with battery installed on the vehicle, while I was looking for jump start information.

I think the ground cable does not have to be discounted when boosting from another vehicle with a good battery,my 2 cent? Should it?

Disconnecting the ground cable is recommended by a lot of manufacturers for charging. It's not something you do when jump starting.

Thanks, i was able to jump start, drove to auto zone for a new battery replacement.I was expecting to make some adjustments after the install, such as calibrating the compass sensor, and the moon roof, but so far, only the radio and the clock need reseting.

However, while driving to the car wash, I felt some unsual shaking from the front ends, like flat tires. but the tires were fine when I inspected them.Drove some more but no more shaking from the front ends.

Probably the traction control or something resetting/adjusting itself?

Well,hope everything is okay.
