2007 Gen 6 Camry v6 LE exhaust heat shields??

How many heat shields are above the exhaust, cat. converter and resonator in the v6 LE camry?? I had a piece about 30 inches long and irregularly shaped come loose and get caught under mine which came loose when I stopped. I can't tell if it is from my car or got caught underneath. Ideas? Can anyone provide ideas/diagrams?? Thanks.

A missing heat shield shouldn't be hard to miss. Most exhaust systems are shielded from the manifolds to the muffler except where the pipe runs an inch or two below the unibody. Can't say that I have ever seen a loose heat shield. If anything, they are usually on there for life. Regards.

I posted a pic of what was under my car on the gallery page, if you have any thoughts, it is greatly appreciated. I don't see where the 4 mounting holes could have been attached. Thanks.

Well that is definitely a heat shield. With that upturned flange on one end ,I would look at where the exhaust pipe first comes under the floorpan at the firewall or in the rear where the unibody turns up to accomodate the rear sub-frame. The heat shield looks like it has been ripped from its mounts and maybe left the mounting fasteners behind. It may also be from another vehicle and you just happen to become engaged to it. Take a look at the web site[toyotapartseast.com] Fill in the required fields and take a look at "floor insulators." I don't see an illustration that looks like the part you have. Thanks to another member who supplied this parts site. Regards

Thanks. That part site is amazing. I'm pretty confident the shield is not from my car, I've never heard of one getting stuck under another car before. First time for everything.

Hold on Dude..... ensure U have p/n 77631-06031 which is 28 inches long and attached with 4 bolts. Very important heat shield protecting your plastic gas tank from your exhaust!! Don't dismiss this part as junk that just happened to be under your car!!

I think I'll bring the piece in for the dealer to ID, just to be sure. Is there a service manual or schematic for these things available, or even a photo somewhere? Thanks for the tips.

Thanks all for the help. I picked up my new shield and installed it within 15 min. Set me back just over 100 bucks. Too bad the new one is made of the same substandard aluminum which will need replacement again. I've never heard of heat shields lasting only a few years before they break off.
