Gen6 Stream Pandora through iPod compatible Camry radio

So I just discovered Pandora, and I love it. I want to stream it through my USB iPod connection in my Camry. So I connected through the USB and played a song from iTunes, then I opened the Pandora app and hit play. This works but only until the song you interrupted ends, then it kicks Pandora off and goes back to playing the song in iTunes. Real pain in the ass.

So I looked on google and I found this guide.
http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/str...-infiniti.html

Quote:
It is very simple to get your iPhone streaming Pandora with the same quality sound as your iPod, without having to buy a thing. Here’s how:
1) Create a blank audio track about 1-2 hours long, and name it Pandora. Then click on this track and open the get info tab by right clicking on the track. Then click the options tab and set the volume adjustment to 0%.
What you have done is created a track that when played on your iPhone will open the iPod audio channel but will not output any sound.
2)Create a playlist on your iPhone called Pandora and place the track you’ve made into that folder. Once transferred open the track on your iPhone and select the repeat/loop icon.
3) Plug your iPod into the USB port and navigate your Bose system to the iPhone. Then open the playlists folder entitled Pandora and select the track “Pandora”. The Bose system will then play anything that comes from your iPod, and your iPod now has an open audio channel on it and will stay open until you manually interrupt by hitting stop on the iPhone.
4) Grab your iPhone, press the menu button and open Pandora
5) Enjoy streaming audio from Pandora on your beautiful Infiniti, never a reason to be bummed!
Note 1: If you get an error message on your phone “volume not available”, or the audio stops playing, just press the source or AUX button on you Infiniti and cycle through back into the iPod and restart Pandora, this will reset everything and get it going.

Note 2: If you have it play for a while and then hear nothing, you have run through your Pandora playlist. Simply reopen the track “Pandora” and continue to enjoy!

Note 3: Make sure you iPhone is not on vibrate.
If you need a blank audio track you can get one here.

It mentions a Bose system but theoretically this should work with any Toyota with USB iPod interface, and any car stereo with a iPod interface too.

I am going to go and give this a try and let you all know how it works. Post your results too.

I did not search TN so if this has been covered just delete the thread.

My Pandora or ANY sound that comes from my iphone plays over my Camry system via blue-tooth. Had to wait for my wife one night to get done at work—so I started streaming a movie over Netflix and audio was perfect.

Bluetooth is the way to go! Sync it, set it and forget it. Granted I have an '11 and I don't know if early years have bluetooth capabilities.

I'm going to try that. Thanks. My girlfriends stereo alpine cda9857 works with the blank track method.

Also does the iPhone still receive calls through the stereo if the Bluetooth audio player is hooked up?

^^ Yep!

If you have the phone sync'd to your car as well, there is a default ringer the car produces. If you only have audio sync'd, the audio fades/pauses and you can answer your phone as you would normally.

The audio dims if the phone is sync'd to the car as well. Once the you hang up, the music un-pauses and resumes.

It's nice.
