Gen5 wut in the world is this noise? (engine)

06 camry SE 2.4 65k US built

engine maint: pcv, throttle clean, k&n intake just done; NGK IR plugs @ 50k (just for the hell of it); water pump & tensioner @ 47k; oil changes every 5k synthetic since around 40k, owned since 33k; history shows headers & 1st cat were replaced @ dealer before i got it and 2nd cat along with resonator and muffler were replaced after accident at about 51k (not sure if either o2 sensors were replaced)

MIL light is NOT on

i shot a video of the noise..... its coming from the top of the engine around the coils/fuel rail

the video amplifies the noise a bit but it sounds accurate

i scanned the engine with the good code reader from my store (advance) and it came up with cylinder 4 misfire *PENDING*..... i cleared it and went back today to see if it was back and it wasnt

i have a feeling its a coil but what do you guys think? saying it is a coil what brand do you recommend?

forgot to add: ive also notice a random burning smell coming from the engine bay and a tiny bit of random white smoke coming from somewhere on top (only when hood is up)

Might be headbolts man. Especially with the white smoke and burning smell. It wouldn't be a misfire on all cylinders if it were one coil. And I doubt they're all bad.

If it is a head bolt issue it would be the first of me hearing/reading it happening on a 2006. And with so low miles I would be surprised.

How's your coolant level?

coolant is ok..... hvnt had any problems with the cooling system except the water pump taking a crap

the engine really hasnt felt any different or less powerfull..... i dnt think the fuel mileage is great but i do have a lead foot

i really have a feeling its either something with the fuel rail or a coil

my buddy thinks its that fuel regulator on top near cylinder 4 on the fuel rail..... i'll have to check around on how to change it and where i can get it (i hava feeling its a dealer part)

well the noise is still there......... my buddy took a automotive stethescope lookin thing and said it was coming from the fuel rail

do u guys think i should replace the injectors? i can get reman ones for about 30 a piece off rockauto; my boss said i should just leave it because the car doesnt have any loss of power or anything (btw im averaging 21-22 mpg with a lead foot)

one thing i noticed today tho... i had my A/C blasting today and the noise went away when the compressor was engaged and came right back when it cycled off

Maybe the lead foot is the problem.... take it easy! That is horrible mileage for the I4... i get 35mpg on my V6...and i do a lot of track days and still average around 25-28 on those days.

Sounds like a vacuum leak to me...ck the hose on the left behind the first injector...looks like it's pulled off a bit.

That is soo strange. My 02 Camry SE I4 just started making the exact same noise about 6 months ago. I cant figure it out either but it started right after I changed the PCV valve.
