5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
So I tried posting this in the security/audio w.e section no response at all was pleased! Ha not. Anyway here it is. I would really love some input. I know I'm going to here "should have let a pro do it" but well I'm ambitious and crazy lol. And now I know how to un-wire it when I decide I don't like it lol. Installed a viper 5701 with the dball module. Here's what I posted on the other site.
I have a 2011 Camry Se 2.5l. i just got done putting in the dball and the viper module. everything seems to work fine. except. i can lock and unlock the car with the factory fob and it arms and disarms and locks and unlocks all the doors. but the one thing thats happening is when i try to start the vehicle it doesn't start. it just turns the car on for about 10 seconds. as if someone stuck the key in. and turned it to on. but didn't crank it over.
the DBALL is wired correctly according to their instructions. and programmed properly. the viper is connected to the dball via the D2D connection.
so my question is.
why can't i lock or unlock the doors with the viper remote.
and what could be wrong with the starter?
i have the yellow ignition wired to the pink wire on the viper.
i have the blue starter wired into the green and violet wire on the viper.
any idea if i need to be wiring in the second starter?
if so what wires are those and do i need a 12v relay?
if i can remember correctly, try switching the EMI and the IMI wires around, i did my 5901 on my 11' LE a cpl months ago (i used to do it for a living lol) and did u actually hook the lock/unlock wires from the alarm to the car? cuz the DBALL doesnt do lock/unlock, and if u did, what wires did u put them on? power lock/unlock? or factory arm/disarm?
and o i forgot ur last part, yes ur second starter needs to be hooked up, and ur 2nd ignition, ur alarm has a built in flex relay for either a second start or second ignition, so choose one and put a relay on the other, i put the flex relay on my second ignition, and put a relay on my second starter, positive trigger from the first starter, 12 input
second starter is gray, gnition switch, white 8 pin plug, pin 3
second ignition is pink, ignition switch, white 8 pin plug, pin 1

AAHhh my savior! thanks man. hopefully i'll get a chance to do this tomorrow.
but why doesn't the DB-all do the lock and unlock? i thought it was supposed to do everything from the obd?
also the wires you mentioned those are the colors for in the car? and the alarm has wires for a flex relay and second ignition can i just use those? or would i be better off with the relay setup? either way im running out of options haha. not going to give up tho. never been a quitter or uninstaller haha.
Thanks again for the help!
Never mind. just read it again and more slowly. i understand the relay stuff. thanks again
lol yea, those r the wire colors for inside the car on the ignition harness.
and idk y it doesnt do door locks, but dnt feel bad cuz i did the same thing on my LE and ive been doin remote starts for about 5 years, thats how i knew that was ur problem.
but no problem man, im glad i could help
and those EMI and IMI wires were pissin me OFF!!! lol it took me forever to get them in a position to where i could actually solder to them
this is on express kits website for the product description of the DB-all
Product Description:
The DB-ALL is an all in one door lock and override module that covers over 95% of cars on the road today. It will
support legacy systems like VATS and PASSLOCK as well as support doorlocks and override on the most modern of
cars like Toyota with pushstart ignition system and Chrysler with electronic ignition. The DB-ALL offers the most
advanced hardware architecture in our industry and covers more cars than any of our competitors.

i wonder if i need the door locks wired from the viper to the db-all? i was thinking the d2d wire would cover all that tho... hmm idk still curious about that.. shouldn't be too hard to tag in the locks to the viper tho.. just need to find the wires.. ugh more searching lol
if i remember correctly, the install sheet for the dball v 4.07 doesnt list lock/unlock as a feature for the camry, so i just took the lock/unlock from the viper and tagged them to the power lock/unlock wires,, now im not gonna lie, it doesnt lock and unlock the doors about 5% of the time(jus use the factory key fob), but it has to do with the software on the dball, they need to update it, they did b4 but not good enough..but the powerlock/unlock wires r right there in ur face on the fuse box...
I haven't mess with expresskit yet so I can't comment about the DBALL transponder module.
To test your RS, just place the key in w/o turning and remtoe start. If it works, then get your DBALL programmed/learned. If that doesn't work, you need to check your engine sensing (voltage, virtual, or tach) and try again.

The alarm should come set already to virtual Rachel so that shouldn't matter. But I did jus now remember ur gonna need a bitwriter to program the alarm to use second ignition on the flex relay
Lol the shipping cost isn't worth it.
There a CHANCE u can program it with the valet button, u gotta read the installation manual. Im so used to using a bit writer I forgot wut the valet button can program
I have been all over tens of forums since 2002 to promote DIY alarm/RS installation. Many ppl have successfully learn how to do it. you sir need to keep trying.
Ask question and i will answer them all.

Well I'm pretty sure the dball I have was flashed wrong. So gun a go get it reflashed and re program in car. And hopefully won't have to re wire anything. I'll post up tomorrow once done
