What grade of oil do you use? Use the thinnest grade recommended, its either 5-30 or 0w20 (i think probably the former). The oil is not getting to your bearings fast enough or someone didnt change the oil often enough and/or used too heavy oil. If it is making noise like this every start, and you think the engine has a lot of miles left in it except for starting clatter - it may be worth using mobil 1 or some other synthetic (much better engine lubrication especially when cold).
thanks for the replies.
my car does not sound like the video.
much deeper.
i did not change the oil very often in the last two years bc i have driven <8,000 miles in those two years
something tells me your car definately needs an oil change then. the detergent in the oil would be releasing carbon deposits until it cant hold any more. if that oil hasnt been changed for 2 years, you might have some sludge
anyone who has anything to say about this can correct me if needed, i hate it when i end up giving someone wrong advice.

no, ive changed the oil several times in the last 2 years. maybe every 6 months.
You might get some other opinions here... in the short term, an exhaust leak doesn't really bother the car, but if what ever it is that is leaking breaks, you might find youself stuck on the side of the road with part of the system hanging to the ground and the rest still attached, so it is best to have it checked. Get a few estimates and go from there, search this forum for costs on replacing all or part of the system and what normally goes first, I haven't changed anything on mine yet, I have an 04 with 95,000 miles.
^^ yeeeeaaaa but hopefully that doesn't happen.. but a leak can't necessarily hurt the car. If it was a vacuum line that caused lean conditions, then I could see it potentially harming the engine. Otherwise, its kinda like a freer flowing exhaust lol...
It definitely sounds like an exhaust leak. Get it checked..
