Fuel tank door not closing

Hi,

I have a camry 2002 le v4 sedan. Two days ago I filled the gas and capped the tank. When I tried to close the tank door, it would not close and I noticed the clip that helps the door close got stuck and would not come out.

How can I pull that out? is this an expensive repair?

Thanks,
t-man

Huh?
Are you talking about the spring clip on the hinge or what? I think we don't get what you are talking about.

Yes, the spring clip that holds the gas tank door closed.

The clip on the hinge allows the door to spring open when the pin is pulled. It does not keep the door closed. There is no spring clip to keep the door closed. There is a plunger type of pin that is spring loaded which goes through a tab on the door. This could break off I suppose although I've never seen it happen. If this is your issue then you need to replace that assembly.
