Stupid quads: finally finishing up

So I had a less than decent retro done back a few months ago, but it was good enough to drive with

I finally got some free time to re-align my pawel-retro fx-rs, so I'm runnin those until I get my quads done cleanly

Here's a pic of the previous custom shield output on my ceiling

and how it was on the garage

and now:

The shield is definitely more complex this time to get some blue on the cutoff. I also wanted a sharper step, which meant playing w/ where the shield sits

The steps are actually the same size this time since my wife cut both of them at the same time the step is much larger than a normal one, but I think it'll still work fine. You can see how the large step results in some of dimming at the cutoff on the right tho.

After this, I have a new mount to create... then gotta line up all four projectors and seal it all back up. The new mount will take the longest time =\

On a side note: I looked at my stock camry projectors, which previously had a 5000K 35watt DDM kit installed. The chrome definitely has suffered some damage - just something to consider since a lot of ppl here are runnin HIDs in their projectors - if you're slowly damaging that chrome... it looks great now, but your HIDs may only be as bright as halogens 5 years down the road...or you'll just get weird dim spots on the road

nice bro, haha funny you had your wife cut out the steps. Can't wait to see the quad setup. Also on your side note comment, after i removed my oem headlights to put in the retro headlights i noticed the part where you place the bulbs is sort of brown and on the inner part too. My last hidkit was 5k 35watt ddm kit too.

I'm kind of scared to use aftermarket bulbs now. The scary thing is that my mh1 can ONLY use aftermarket bulbs. One's running an xb35 and the other is running a TC bulb... the xb35 would be the brighter more expensive bulb that puts out more UV but less heat by tests done by stupigpig on HIDP.

I may remove the mh1 to inspect for possible damage. I have a feeling that it's built to take the aftermarket HIDs tho, unlike camry projectors...

Here's a link to the old retrofit if anyone wanted to see it. It worked awesome, but my mh1 projectors were aimed way too low compared to my rx's. This time they'll be much closer so I don't lose too much distance when I swap to mh1-only

Pics asap when they're done!!
Are they mh1 + fx-rs quads? If so I was thinking of doing that same thing but not until the summer time.

Also with the chrome peeling, wher exactly is it peeling? Because on the chrome ring, mine was peeling but this was way before I had hids, got them replaced with warranty and they havent peeled for the next year until I black housed the headlamps.

ps. lots of pics if you can

The project is complete after I finish the one mount that I have to do.. but I spend ridiculous amounts of time tweaking it for rotation since all I have is a dremel and a drill... and I screw up a lot (and end up having to start over).

Ill take a bunch of pics when I'm satisfied XD hopefully I won't run out of time and have to delay it again haha

My last passenger mount was rotated to the right so I got a lot of width on that side, but the cutoffs never met. If u add different sized steps in to that equation.. it just wasn't gettin maximum distance lighting like I want

I'm doin rx330cs+mh1.

I think those two projectors complement each other better unless u want the quadxenon high beam. I'm actually considering removing the mh1 and stickin the halogen back in so I can try putting the mh1 in the fogs (got an idea using pvc). The high beam might've been modded enough that I can't go back tho.

My chrome was damaged inside the bowl =\ It shouldn't be heat damage since HIDs run cooler.. I suspect it's UV - somebody experienced on HIDP thinks UV damages chrome.

pic of the workstation lol
